Stornoway Angling Association has built up a good relationship based on goodwill with estates with some of the best fishing available in Lewis & Harris, therfore fishing is occasionally available to members.

The following estates have fishing available to members, with the following guidelines.

Amhuinnsuidhe

Bookings are made by phoning Innes Morrison on 01859560200 after 11am on a Monday. Between 6pm and 9pm Innes can be contacted on 07818048248.

NO SUNDAY TELEPHONE CALLS PLEASE!

Please read the Amhuinnsidhe rules issued in the code of conduct you received along with your membership card.
In particular please note that only sea trout between 1.5 lbs and 3lbs may be retained. The angling association has in the past had a return rate of nearly 100% of sea trout and it would be helpful if that continues.

Grimersta

The Estate operates a voluntary catch and release policy which should be respected as far as practicable. Fishing is by fly only. The booking system for Grimesta operates in a similar manner to the Amhuinnsuidhe list. The cost of fishing is £20 per evening, 50% of which is distributed to local charities.

The fishing is available only on Friday evenings from 6.00pm until thirty minutes after last light. A specific set of rules have been agreed with the Estate, a copy of which, aong with a map, may be collected from Sportsworld on confirmation of booking.

Other fishing further up the main system may be available to members on occasion. Members enquiring about fishing should enquire directly to the estate office on (01851 621358).

For 2004 the association has entered into an agreement with Grimesta to place a boat on Loch Fhir Mhaoil. Details of the agreement are available from Sportsworld.

Uig & Hamanavay

Availabilty of fishing is done by contacting Sportsworld and Simon Hunt on (01851 672421). Costs vary depending on the loch, but will be in the region of £10 per person.

The estate is fly only and operates a strict conservation policy, copies of which will be given to you on arrival. A four-wheel drive vehicle is necessary to reach the lochs, but occasionally transport through the estate may be available.

Garynahine

The association has entered into an agreement with Garynahine Estate, where the estate will kindly provide a boat on Loch Macleod for the use association members. There is no charge for the boat, but the agreement with the estate depends on full reports of catches been returned. Fishing is by fly only.

Morsgail

Contact Malcolm Macphail on 07796223185 to enquire about availability of fishing.
