Fishing News 19/07/10

Last week was very frustrating on the Creed system with the river running just below a good fishing height and Loch Clachan too high for good fishing. Salmon and a few sea trout were landed, mainly from Loch Clachan.

A small rise in river level on Saturday allowed a slightly better run of grilse into the system which is very encouraging as the main run is not due for another week.

Salmon fishing on Loch Langavat has been very good with up to six grilse landed per trip. I would urge anglers to show restraint and release as many salmon back into Loch Langavat as possible.

Sadly, my comments lasat week about landing nets proved correct for one unlucky angler as he had no net and could not land a good fish from the Rock Pool.

A question I get asked regularly by visitors is where to fish in Loch Clachan. The short and easy answer is onto the leeward shore as that is where most of the taking fish are located.
