Fishing Report for August

After the good run of salmon and sea trout into the Creed system at the end of July very good sport continued until the river level dropped in the second week of August. Although salmon continued to run the river, with the odd one landed by anglers, it was not until another good rise in river levels towards the end of the month that sport picked up with salmon. Another very good run of salmon came into the river when levels rose and provided superb sport to the river fishers. The salmon and sea trout in the lochs are playing hard to get but have given some sport when conditions (settled loch levels and a good breeze) have been favourable.

Although this week has been quieter on the system (calm and bright weather) prospects are good for September with above average numbers of fish present in the system and (historically) more due on the next spring tides.

Although the Association boats on Lochs Langavat and Fhir Mhaoil were only used occasionally during August, Langavat returns showed 9 salmon taken and 2 salmon from Fhir Mhaoil in two visits. Prospects on both these lochs are excellent with Grimersta reported to have had a good run of salmon over the last 2 weeks
