Fishing Report and Information.

Rain at last!

Last week the Creed rose to a fishable level for the first time this season. This rise in water coincided with the arrival of a very good run of salmon and grilse. Fish were seen running every day from Friday17th until Friday 24th, when a massive flood made the falls in the lower river impassable to fish. The run peaked on Wed 22nd when huge numbers of fish were seen running the river.

These fish were moving quickly and anglers were lucky if they managed to get an offer from the fish. This resulted in more fish being lost than landed.  From Wednesday onwards , fly fishing accounted for all the salmon reported, with a good number being returned.

Most sea trout were taken from Loch Clachan, which is currently full of salmon and sea trout.

23 salmon and 45 sea trout were reported, although the number caught will have been higher.

Prospects for next week are excellent with more rain and SW winds forecast for the week.

CREED SEASON TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE NEXT WEEK IN SPORTSWORLD.

The Association boats on Loch Langavat and Loch Fhir Mhaoil (thank you Scaliscro Estate) should start picking up salmon now. The two boats on Loch Langavat in particular should do well as a very big run of salmon ran right through the Grimersta system at the end of last week. Last year, when the main run reached Langavat, catches of 4/5 salmon per boat were recorded. Members are reminded there is a 1 salmon per angler per day limit on Langavat.

On all waters Association anglers have access to, try and release as many salmon and sea trout as possible..........think of the future and not the freezer!
