June Bumble

Boats

All the trout boats are out on their moorings and it is certainly worth a try for brown trout until the rains finally arrive. With the persistent easterly winds throughout June it has been difficult fishing although it is good to get out on the water and shake off the winter cobwebs - check in Sportsworld for details.

The refurbished Langavat boats are out and ready for the first signs of rain.

Competitions

Obbe trophy always a popular competition and it was more so this year with 37 anglers making their way to Leverburgh under cloudless skies and yes, an east wind.

As usual at this time of year it was the bait fishers who made up the bulk of the total catch which included several land locked salmon (easily spotted by there somewhat softish appearance and they also lack the silver sparkle of a fresh fish) this years winner is not a stranger to winning fishing competitions albeit usually sea angling ones, well done Angie "mop" Macdonald.

Jamieson Cup in stark contrast to the Obbe trophy a few weeks earlier only three anglers remembered that the Competition was on (probably due to the Competition organiser being off the Island) however they persevered in difficult conditions(bright sun and ,yes you guessed it an east wind). A total of 16 trout were caught(11 returned) 9 of which were caught by Calum Stewart- a return to form after a bad end to last season- cangratulations to Calum.

Junior trophy The Junior trophy was postponed due to the weather conditions and will be rescheduled for a future date. Any juniors wishing to participate please put your names on the sheet in Sportsworld. Please feel free to take along any friends who are interested in fishing even if they are not members of the Association.
