Stornoway Angling Association

AGM

At the AGM held in the Stornoway Sea Angling Club on the 18th March there was a higher than normal attendance and it was especially pleasing to see a good turn out from the junior section of the club.

As is the case with all clubs, each member has one vote and if you dont attend the agm you must accept the democratic decisions made by those who make the effort to attend the meeting.

New committee members

There are two new committee members for 2008 Murdo Macaulay and Dan Maclennan on Maintenance. There is also a change at the top with Malcolm Mackay taking over the presidents post from the retiring Gordon Mackenzie. Thanks to Gordon for his commitment and hard work for the Association over the past few years.

Creed rule amendments

There will be a new set of rules governing the Creed system this season.

Season ticket holders fishing the system this year will be asked to sign a declaration before receiving their season ticket. These measures have been taken in order to protect the fishery while still been able to provide fishing for the local community at a reasonable cost. This is a fine balancing act, so please be patient and in the meantime if you think there are any ways that we can improve the running of the fishery please forward to any of the committee members

Hatchery

This years crop of eggs are progressing well , now at the Alvin stage they have had a second visit from some of the junior members. There will be a further visit at the fry stage and the final stage on their journey to the river where they will be distributed to parts of the system with low fry density.

Boats

There are three trout boats out at the moment Brecag, Beg na Craoibh and Loch Achmore. The two boats at Loch Craoubh and Falcag will be going out over the next few weeks. The Langavat boats are due out in the First week in May (check in Sportsworld for the availability of boats)
