Hatchery- This years crop of eggs are progressing well with low mortalities so far and all being well they should be  reaching the eyed ova stage in the coming weeks. The Association had an open day at the hatchery for a number of Junior members to show how the eggs were stripped and fertilised. The junior members thoroughly enjoyed their day and gave them an insight into the first stages in the life cycle of the Atlantic Salmon (thanks to Regis, Malcy and Eddie). We hope to arrange regular visits to the hatchery throughout the development of the ova, and on this note any members wishing to visit the hatchery please contact any of the committee members.

Boats
The committee took the decision  at the end of last season that the Langavat boats required much needed maintenance and decided to take the boats back to Stornoway.

A crew of eight members made their way to Langavat on a fine autumn day in November, three other members walked from the Scaliscro end  to take the boats over to Aline for transporting back to Stornoway(thanks to Aline for the use of the track).

Having inspected both boats it was felt that while one boat only required minor repairs the other boat required major works. These works are now about complete with both boats ready for painting on this subject, if any member has a spare hour or two to help with the painting please contact any of the committee members or phone Ali on 705015 or 705453(evening).
Thanks to Dan and Angie John who carried out the work on the boats.

Juniors
It is proposed in early February that a variety of activities for our Junior members will start with lessons in Orienteering (Map and compass reading) invaluable knowledge for any angler to know especially when the mist comes down. Proposed dates are Thursday 7th Feb and Thursday 14th Feb at 7.30 pm at the Sea Angling Club. Juniors can contact Eddie on 07810566465 or Alex 705453(evenings) to book a place.

It is also proposed to have fly fishing lessons for juniors and dates for this will be confirmed at a later date.
