River Creed Proposed amendments for 2008
The Association hopes that all Season Ticket, Day ticket and visiting anglers to the River Creed had an enjoyable season on the catchment. It has been a particularly good season with large numbers of Salmon and Sea trout running through following a very slow start to the season, although there seems to have been a slow start all over the Island following reports from other estates.
There has also been a marked increase in season ticket holders and visiting anglers this season due mainly to the good numbers of fish running for a major part of the season. Unfortunately this season the Association has experienced one or two problems on the Creed System and are proposing to address these issues before the start of next season.

River Creed Proposed rule amendments 2008 (for Consultation)
1) Fly fishing with cast fly only from main road bridge to the Matheson pool (no spinning rods permitted) with the exception of Junior members who may fish with worm between the road bridge and the Arnish bridge from 4.30pm to 7pm weekdays and 1pm and 7pm on Saturdays.
2) Maximum of five salmon per angler to be retained for the season. Max of 1 Salmon and 2 Sea trout per day.
3) No worm fishing on the river after 15th September.
4) Max of two anglers per pool below road bridge.
5) The Association will operate a zero tolerance for anglers leaving litter around the catchment ( The Association have had a number of complaints from the general public).
6) Only one rod must be assembled at any time.
7) All anglers must obey instructions from water bailiffs and appointed river watchers.

Other proposals and sanctions

All Creed members will be asked to sign an agreement to abide by the rules as laid out by the SAA.
Sanctions for breaking the rules will be immediate loss of season, day or evening ticket and a ban from the system for the season and a review of future Creed membership applications.
The Association are proposing to increase the full Creed membership fee to £60 with Day tickets £20 and evening tickets£15.(concessions and Juniors to remain as last Season)

Please forward any replies/comments to the secretary (A Maclean, 18 Keith Street, Stornoway) by the 4th December with your name, address and club number.  Anonymous replies will be rejected. All replies will be considered by the Association at our monthly meetings. Final creed rule amendments will be discussed and approved at the AGM.

Fly Tying Classes (beginners and advanced)
It is hoped to start the informal fly tying classes again this year with an extra option for more advanced skills. John Maclean, an excellent fly tyer has volunteered to join us and take a more advanced group tackling hairwing salmon flies, shrimps, etc. Roddy J Macleod will plod on with a course of basic skills for beginners. We will meet on Monday evenings in the OFSTED building on the Lews Castle College campus. Access to the building is through the top car park at the back of the college (near the workshops). Go right through main car park and up to the back. We propose to start on Monday 26th November at 7.00pm and you will be met at the main car park for the first couple of nights. We are not yet sure how this will be financed but we should know in time for the start date. Please let us know if you wish to come along. The information we require is Name, Address, Telephone number (Home or Mobile). Please telephone Roddy John on 702263 (home) or John on 770458 (work) or 870060 (home) to book a place. If places have to be limited because of demand we will take your calls in order.

New Competition
The new South Uist Trust are currently looking into an annual fly fishing competition between the Island clubs North Uist, South Uist, Harris and Stornoway.  Accommodation and expenses will be provided by the hosts and there will be probably four  anglers from each club .
