Fishing Update

I predicted last week that the fishing would pick up. I had no idea it would be so good, with 64 salmon reported from the Creed system for the week. Regular downpours at night meant that the river was falling most days and the salmon responded by attacking any flies that went near them. About one in five of the salmon were fresh run, with the best three being 12,10 and 10lbs. Fish of the week was a 15lb + kipper from the Bothy Pool to Gary Mackinlay. There were lots of happy faces on the river last week and although it was busy, especially on Tuesday, the fact that almost all the anglers were fly fishing meant things ran smoothly with all anglers moving along at a reasonable pace. Long may that continue. It was nice to see some visitors on the river who scored well. I think they might be back next year!

Good angling conditions on the river should continue up until Thursday when dry weather is set to take over. Then anglers would be advised to try the lochs as they are full of salmon and sea trout.

There is only a 4-5 week window left for redd cleaning on the system this year so anyone interested in lending a hand please contact the secretary.
