Fishing Report

Last week was very good with 45 salmon reported on the Creed. This means that the declared catch for the first 12 days of August exceeded the total catch of the 2006 season. The week was dominated by a massive flood on 7 August which washed away foot paths, and pools in the lower river. It did not put the salmon of the take as 17 were recorded on the Wednesday! It was good to see the fly fishers getting in on the action at last with up to 4 salmon a day per rod.And most were returned unlike those taken by the worm fishers. Sea trout continue to run the river with good numbers of sea liced 1.5-2lb fish showing up in catches. The salmon run appears to be slowing down now but there are plenty of fish in the pools to keep anglers interested. Another significant run of salmon usually enters the Creed in early September and is made up of bigger fish. Several grilse have been taken on the association boats on Loch Langavat and a visit is highly recommended at this time. A bit of salmon action is almost guaranteed.......or maybe not!
