Stornoway Angling Association Newsletter February 2007 Dear Member, With the start of the new season drawing ever closer just a few details to keep you posted on what is going on over the next few weeks Annual General Meeting - The Annual General Meeting of the Association will be held at the Sea Angling Club on Monday 19th March at 7.30pm. All those interested in the future of the Association are asked to attend. . Annual Prize giving dinner - the annual prize giving dinner will be held in the Crown Hotel on Saturday 31st March at 7pm for 7.30pm. Costs are 17.50 per head for senior members and junior members are half price. We hope that we have a good turnout and would request that you leave your name and payment at Sportsworld , Francis St , Stornoway. Sportsworld have agreed to provide a discount scheme for all SAA members on a trial basis for the 2007 season. On receipt of your SAA membership card you will be entitled to a 10% discount on all purchases of fishing tackle. Your discount will increase on your level of spending throughout the season as follows over 101 discount 12.5%, over 161 discount 15%, over 202 discount 20%, over 351 discount 25%. Members must show their cards to claim discount. Competitions Competition dates for 2007 are as follows :- Obbe trophy- Any method To be fished on Saturday 28th April , Loch Langavat ,Leverburgh Jamieson Cup Evening fly competition to be fished on the evening of Tuesday 165th May (Venue to be confirmed). Poachers Shield Stornoway v NUAC v SUAC - First round Sat -------and the return leg Saturday 25th August. If this competition is oversubscribed the club will draw lots. Junior Club Championship any method to be fished on the evening of Friday 8th June 7pm to 9.30 pm (Venue to be confirmed) Maciver Cup bait competition (Loch Langavat) to be fished on Sat 18th August In addition to the competitions the Association still have the following The Cresswell cup for the best trout caught on Langavat from the Boathouse Mackinnon plate Best Salmon on Langavat from the Boathouse or club Competition. Maclarty Shield Best Salmon from North Harris on Fly. Lamont Bowl Best trout anywhere on Lewis and Harris on fly. Should you wish to enter any of the above competitions please enter your name on the appropriate sheet in SPORTSWORLD, Francis St. Stornoway. NOTE Membership will be available from Sportsworld from Saturday 3rd March .
