Creed Update

A rise in water on the 11th gave the anglers a chance of a fish or two as the extra water encouraged a good run of fish into the river. Unfortunately there were few anglers out so catches were quite light. The river fell away quickly as the bright dry weather returned on Thursday. Brian Jackson from Shropshire made the most of the extra water with a cracking 13 lb salmon from the Peatstack Pool on Tuesday. The fish took a Stoats Tail and took 20 minutes to land. A sea liced grilse was taken from the Junction Pool on Tuesday so it is probable that most of the fish that ran the river will be in Loch Clachan. Anglers out on Thursday and Friday were commenting on the number of large (10 lb +) black salmon jumping in the pools. This is maybe an indication of an improvement in the run of spring salmon into the Creed. As they are not fished for then the stock of early running salmon has every chance of increasing. Prospects are very good with heavy rain forecast for tonight, a good stock of salmon in the pools and the main run of grilse due in the next two weeks.
