River Creed catches 2005

There were 241 salmon landed in 2005 with 107 returned There were 151 seatrout and 201 finnock landed in 2005 with 51 seatrout and 201 finnock returned The largest salmon was about 9lbs with a good number of 6-8lb fish recorded.There were several salmon in the teens of pounds hooked but none were landed. The sea trout catches held up well compared to other systems on the island and several seatrout of 3-5lbs were caught. Most visiting anglers had a fish or two and some of the local anglers did very well. 2005 was the first year that all the changes in management of the system by SAA would have affected returning adult salmon numbers.In order to give a more accurate estimate of returning salmon than rod catches, the SAA carried out salmon redd counts each year since 2001.The results were: 2001 104 2002 122 2003 153 2004 221 2005 433
